My Latest Sport

You wake up early enough to beat the crowd, throw on the most comfy-feeling clothes you’ve got, count the cash, slip on those flops, and off you go to the nearest shopping mall. The minute you step in through the welcoming glass doors, its time to plan your route! And for the next four hours or more you’re zipping in and out of “SALE” adorned shops – top floor to bottom floor. Trying on piece after piece and rummaging through more racks of such wide ranges of clothes is no joke. Smart shoppers know how to compare prices before actually making a purchase. Don’t forget, after every shop you come out from, you’ve got one extra paper bag-load on your arms to lug around. There are only so many hours in a day, and only so much cash in your wallet. Lunch isn’t that important compared to what may be waiting for you in the next shop – and you’d better get to it before someone else does!

All that nonstop walking, baggage (weight) carrying, thinking calculating, and no eating...
Is shopping a sport? You bet it is!

And with the amazingly fantasmagorically absolutely fabulously GREAT MEGA SALES on this season…. You SO have to join in!!! So because I’ve been a happy customer for the past two crazy shopping weekends. I shall share with you a few basic tips to make your Mega Sale shopping experience 100% worthwhile!

Water.
Yes. It’s a very important element indeed. It will keep you hydrated and save your Ringgits from any RM 3.50 rip off for water outside. Fill up that bottle and you’re good to go.

The Notebook & pen.

WRITE down your shopping list first! This will help you save time and stay focused!Actually if you’ve got your trusty handphone with you, it should do. But I’m a person who likes to make lists. Every time you walk in and out of a shop, take note of the price of each item you’re interested in before actually buying it. You don’t wanna beat yourself up when you find out that the shop next door sells the same item for 50% less than what you spent on!

The Waist Belt

Roll it up and chuck it in your bag to bring along. You’ll need it when it comes around to trying on tops that require such a belt. Go with plain colors like black or white coz it matches most tops.

The Boob Tube.
This helps when you’re trying on tops that are either too low cut, backless, or see-through. It doesn’t necessarily have to be there just for decency’s sake – have fun with fashion! Mix and match! The boob tube does wonders for the layered style. (I personally love wearing them in colors on the hips to match any of my wee-bit-too-short-tees. Funky!) But like I said, since it’s just shopping and not actually dressing up – just bring along a black or white one. Basic colors match best. =)

The Right Bra.

Speaking of see-through tops, this is probably the most important element (besides your cash of course). Wear a skin-colored strapless comfy fitting bra when you go out shopping. Tube dresses, cross backs, thin white tops, etc etc… self explanatory.

Comfy flip flops

You don’t wanna have to bother tying laces and buckling buckles or putting on socks all over again each time you try on shoes while shoe shopping. Slippers are easiest to SLIP on and off and besides, you’ll be walking a lot so you don’t want hurting blistered feet from heels or stinky sweaty feet from shoes during your shopping excursion. Let your toesies breeeeeaaaattthe!

Basic Apparel

I seem to be using that word quite a bit huh? Basic is good. Wear shorts and a simple tee when shopping. I say shorts and not jeans because sometimes when you’re trying on shoes, you’ll wanna see how it looks like with bottoms that bare your ankles and legs. This’ll save your time instead of having to roll up and down your jeans each time. Simple tee because sometimes you’d wanna try out clothes like this reeeaaally cute pair of denim overalls I recently found at ZARA (but had no guts to buy) - and it’ll just look better with a tee underneath.

The Shopping Buddy
Miss Sharina Ng

Miss Lydia Kwan

Miss Elizabeth Foo.

She’ll be there to give you honest feedback, help you with that stubborn zipper in the changing room, MAKE you try on clothes even if you’re feeling lazy and then smile victoriously when you soon realize that you actually look good in them, squeal about a good buy with you, mix and match like you could never imagine, and just BASICally make your whole shopping day a whole lot more fun!

So whatcha waiting for? Go crazy already! Run wild! See you at the shops! It's the Mega SAAAAAALLLE!!!!!!! wheee!
